The Decatur Jaycees are excited to host Decatur’s first reverse parade, Spectacle of Lights, in place of its annual holiday parade.

The Spectacle of Lights reverse parade will allow the community to participate in the long-standing tradition of celebrating the holiday season together while continuing to give back to the community. The event will take place Thursday, December 17, through Sunday, December 20.

The Decatur Jaycees are challenging all Decatur businesses, organizations, churches, schools, etc. to support their community by putting on their best Christmas displays from 5:00pm to 10:00pm for four nights. Each participating location will receive a location pin on Decatur Downtown Redevelopment Authority’s interactive map, allowing community members to plan their very own “parade route” to view participant’s lights and décor.

We look forward to an assortment of decorated businesses, school yards, parking lots, window displays, etc. and can’t wait to see how our community comes together for this event. This is a great way to get creative, advertise, and spread holiday cheer while giving back to this great community!

Who will receive the proceeds this year?

Traditionally, the Decatur Jaycees select a non-profit organization to donate all parade proceeds to; however, this year, the decision has been made to open voting to the public. Each vote will cost five dollars, and the Decatur Jaycees will donate all voting proceeds to the respectful non-profit. The winning non-profit will receive its voting proceeds, and all parade proceeds. You may vote for your Decatur nonprofit of choice using the Eventbrite link below!
